I am not able to adhere to the strict timings of the Sadhana. Can I do Japa and Yagya as they provide me more flexibility?

Discipline is a part of Sadhana. It helps to train the mind along with the body. That is why once we take a sankalpa, to see our sadhana successfully through we must ideally follow the same routine everyday. If you can’t maintain the discipline then sure, please do Japa and Yagya. Small steps help us get closer to our goal.

Why is it recommended for Sadhana to be performed after sunset & before sunrise?

The morning before sunrise is a good time to begin. If not, you can do this first thing in the morning before noon at any time that is convenient for you. If we consider the night as the period from sunset to sunrise, then the last quarter of the night is the Brahma Muhurta time – anywhere between 3:30 a.m. to 5:30 or 6:00 a.m. depending on the time of sunrise. Brahma Muhurta means the time of the creator. It is the time when you can create yourself. The nature of the planet’s relationship with the sun and moon is such that certain physiological changes happen in the human system at this time.

This is scientifically researched that the entire body is in a certain conducive state, and there is a natural production of what is called melatonin, which is a secretion of the pineal gland. We want to make use of this because the pineal gland is secreting at its maximum during Brahma Muhurta, which means you can stabilize. Post sunset time is most conducive for Shanti Karm and Tantric invocations.
